In light of increased resources to combat and prevent homelessness, legal services providers are presented with different opportunities to tailor legal services to underserved communities and explore new methods for delivering legal services. In San Francisco, attorneys and social service staff are working collaboratively to address clients' legal as well as social service needs. This holistic legal model allows for a more comprehensive approach to legal issues and leads to improved outcomes. In Los Angeles, attorneys are providing legal along with social services wherever individuals and families are currently homeless or facing imminent risk of homelessness. This presentation will explore the successes and pitfalls in delivering these new methods of legal services and exploring potential future legal services to further to combat the homelessness crises in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
