Renee J. Schomp

Director of Strategic Partnerships
Renée has worked in New York, Detroit, Mexico City, and the Bay Area on social justice issues ranging from counter terrorism and human rights to workers’ rights, both on the ground as a legal services advocate and in federal and municipal policy advocacy. She has traveled to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to publish in the Huffington Post on the post-9/11 military commissions hearings for detainees and has worked in Mexico City to help deported migrant families reintegrate into their communities. At OneJustice, Renée spent two years leading the Justice Bus Project in Northern California bringing free civil legal services to military veterans, immigrants, seniors, and low income families throughout rural and isolated California communities. She now runs OneJustice’s Rural Immigrant Connect project, connecting immigrants in California’s Central Valley with ongoing legal representation from Bay Area-based pro bono attorneys through in-person and virtual technology communication. Renée received her Bachelor of Arts summa cum laude from New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study in political philosophy, gender & sexuality theory, and Spanish with a colloquium focused on national identities and the U.S. Mexico border. She received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Michigan Law School, and she is an attorney barred in the State of California.
